CORE STRATEGIES
  1. INCREASE  REVENUE

    CRITICAL ISSUE

    Reach Youth Ministries needs to increase its income levels to continue and improve current programs, develop new programs, cover administrative costs and raise capital for the purchase of buildings.  Cost of our services have continued to increase due to higher prices brought about by “progress”.   The work also continues to increase in scope and volume and as new needs arise brought about by economic factors.  Despite some reports of improvements, the country’s economy remains unstable due to internal politics and external forces.  Donors and prospective donors are reluctant to give and prefer to hold on to their money “just in case”.  Aside from the sheer volume of groups and agencies seeking funds, local and foreign cases of fraud or misuse of donations, have also caused donors to enforce stricter and more voluminous requirements for support, to the detriment of those doing genuine work.


    GOAL

    Increase income to support the service programs and administration of Reach Youth Ministries, Inc.


    STRATEGIES

    • Develop and implement 2 to 4 income-generating projects or businesses that will provide substantial and consistent income and/or publicity for the ministry and possibly jobs for our clients.

    • Increase income from current donor sources by providing information about the ministry and its programs and expand the donor base by establishing and developing a closer relationship with the community, selected trusts and foundations, corporations and other funding bodies

      • Redesign, update and produce the:
        • RYMI Ministry Profile,
        • Ministry Minutes (newsletter),
        • Official ministry website www.reachyouth.org,
        • Specific ministry/program brochures,
        • Audio Visual presentations, music videos
      • Tell the story and/or network via:
        • Churches and schools,
        • Allied service and support organizations,
        • Other selected service and support organizations,
        • Corporations,
        • Funding bodies


  2. REPLACE MINISTRY BUILDINGS

    CRITICAL ISSUE

    Reach Youth Ministries, Inc. needs adequate buildings for its operations, programs and staff. The ministry currently rents 2 buildings – one for operations and the other for the children’s home. Both buildings have become unsuitable and inadequate for their purposes. The ministry has outgrown its current headquarters. Presently, the Headquarters houses living quarters for staff, storage area for various donations, storage, preparation and distribution of food, training of staff/volunteers, storage and dispensing of medicines, library and tutoring center, activity and practice center, client counseling, drop-in centre and administration. The children’s home could use more space and a better design for its operations. Lease contracts for both structures expire by July 2006.


    GOALS

    To obtain more suitable Headquarters, Children’s Home building and staff housing.


    STRATEGIES
    • Investigate procurement of more suitable premises preferably by purchase instead of rental
    • Investigate availability of funds to purchase buildings


  3. INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

    CRITICAL ISSUE

    Reach Youth Ministries, Inc. needs to review, disseminate and document its policies, procedures, practices and activities to all its staff and volunteers all over the Philippines because of its rapid development in partnerships and recruitment of new volunteers.  As RYMI grows, there is a need to institute adequate  internal communication systems, review operational procedures, develop policies and practices and review and implement orientation and training programs to clarify procedures and expectations, avoid problems and misunderstandings.


    GOALS

    All staff members and volunteers should have a detailed knowledge of Reach Youth Ministries mission and programs, policies, procedures, practices and activities.


    STRATEGIES
    • Review, enhance and implement internal communication systems and procedures
    • Review operational procedures, policies and practices and implement
    • Review staff/volunteer orientation and training programs and implement
    • Document and produce handbook for the staff and for volunteers


  4. ADULT EDUCATION

    CRITICAL ISSUE

    Reach Youth Ministries, Inc. needs to develop and enhance its adult education programs, specifically its livelihood development program to educate and assist client families in securing a livelihood adequate to support or meet their needs.  The current livelihood development program is limited due to funding and administration.


    GOALS

    To educate adult clients and to assist them in improving the living standards of their families and their income capacity


    STRATEGIES
    • Investigate external training and assistance opportunities and refer clients to them.
    • Network with livelihood training and assistance organizations.
    • Enlist and train specialist volunteers to train clients.
    • Investigate external training material and review current in-house training material and develop training packages.
